Specialist Programs

LOTE

The Japanese language program provides students with the opportunity to develop an appreciation of another culture and to grow their competency with speaking and understanding conversational Japanese.  The students will be able to communicate through written, digital or spoken communication.

Units of work begin with greetings, self-introduction, colours and numbers, building the foundation for students to continue their learning through a range of vocabulary, based on real-life topics.

Physical Education

Health and Physical Wellbeing is a priority in our school. Our Physical Education program focuses on building Fundamental Movement skills and Fundamental Game Strategies. We aim to provide opportunities for all students to leave school with the skills and confidence to participate in sport and recreational activities of their choice. Our students enjoy sport and are encourage to be active with our morning fitness program. 

The Physical Education program also offers the following

  • Junior & Senior Athletics Carnival
  • Interschool Athletics Carnival 
  • Interschool Swimming Carnival 
  • School & Interschool Cross Country Carnival 
  • Lightning Carnival (Including Soccer, AFL & Netball)

Digital Technology

Our students have access to a modern Computer Lab facility and the use of Ipads within our classrooms. Our Digitial Technology program focuses on computational thinking and information systems to define, design and implement solutions. In an increasingly technological and complex world, it is important to develop knowledge and skills to analyse and creatively respond to design and/or digital challenges.

Music

Bridgetown Primary School is included in the Department of Education's Instrumental Music School Services Program.  Year 5 and 6 students are selected for guitar, keyboard or drumming.  These students are also able to join our school rock band which performs at Assemblies and Year 6 Graduation.
